This summer, we’re bringing you the “softer side” of professional development, straight from the experience of your favorite FCCW Staffers. You voted on what sorts of professional development you needed/wanted, and we’ve scheduled it! Once a month from June–Sept, you’re invited to learn about Values-Centered Professionalism, Writing an Empowering and Compelling Narrative About Your Work, Organizing and Organizational Systems, and Grant Writing.
We’re starting on Sunday, June 11 with Mandy’s workshop on Values-Centered Professionalism:
In today’s job market, even creatives navigate complex decisions around networks of influence, funding streams, work style, pace and integrity. As a full time artist, I struggled to get a grip on these complexities before I was in the smack dab in the middle of them, and, looking back, I made values misaligned compromises that I regret.
As an arts administrator, I frequently have to self-monitor for the rigor of my work, as it measures up to the actions I believe make a better world. There’s implications for work style, collaboration, communication, fundraising, and so many more aspects. Join me to get in the nitty gritty of how to create a career and a lifestyle that complements our values rather than betrays them.
