This summer, we’ve been bringing you the “softer side” of professional development, from the experience of your favorite FCCW Staff. As we head into fall, Sarah Williams is bringing her immense grant writing experience and expertise to us.
Join us for an Introduction to Grant Writing workshop led by FCCW co-founder and Executive Director, Sarah Williams. In this informative session, we’ll delve into the world of arts funding, discussing our experiences with grants, the challenges we face, and the roadblocks that may keep us from applying. Sarah will share her expertise in finding and pursuing grant opportunities, offering practical tips on how to approach writing and budget development, utilize helpful tools, and craft compelling narratives that best convey your ideas and eligibility.
With over a decade of experience in grant writing and fundraising for FCCW, other nonprofit organizations, and artists across California, Sarah will equip artists, and individuals within small nonprofits or fiscally-sponsored projects, with essential knowledge to sustain a successful grant writing practice. This workshop will primarily focus on the specifics of arts grants in the Los Angeles area, however the tools and resources may be applicable beyond just that realm of funding.
Sarah Williams is a co-founder and Executive Director of the Feminist Center for Creative Work. Her passion for the arts led her to pursue a B.A. in Art History from the University of California, Santa Cruz, followed by USC’s Curatorial Practice in the Public Sphere M.A. program. Since returning to Los Angeles in 2006, Sarah has been a driving force in producing impactful projects, exhibitions, programs, events, and publications with organizations like ForYourArt, FCCW, CLOSING, and the Art Book Review. With her extensive experience in grant writing and fundraising, Sarah is devoted to empowering artists and small nonprofits to thrive in their creative pursuits and secure the support they need to bring their visionary projects to life.
