Join activist and educator, Jerri Allyn, along with sex educators, Safiya Darling and Miyana Evans, to have your sex questions addressed by an expert! Participants will add their individual questions to a hat to be discussed, and we’ll explore any arenas the group wants re: pro-sex interests. All feminists from young adults to seniors are invited to take part in this first session of our Feminist Forum sexuality series.

Please feel welcome to arrive at 1:30 to “chat and chew” — enjoy some refreshments and check out resources.

Contact Jerri with any questions at (310) 963-8118.

About the facilitators

Safiya Darling (she/her) (rhymes with mafia) is a Sex Educator. She’s passionate about empowering others to understand more how their bodies work and debunking myths about sex that are rooted in racism, misogyny and transphobia. Safiya specializes in kink, has been active in the kinky community for 13 years and identifies as a submissive. You can often find her at events and creating content and workshops to educate people about how to practice Kink / B.D.S.M. consensually and safely.

Miyana Evans, Program Coordinator, Get Smart B4 U Get Sexy, is a UCLA graduate (BA African American Studies & Sociology), works to bridge the gap between low income neighborhoods and higher ed. Her overall passion for empowering and uplifting youth to be advocates for themselves and their communities led her to work with Black Women for Wellness, managing their comprehensive sex ed program. With years of experience directly working with youth, hearing their concerns, and witnessing the overall lack of information regarding sex and safe practices, she believes that it is important to encourage young people to make smart decisions about sex and have full autonomy over their bodies.

Jerri Allyn is an activist artist and educator (she/he/shimmher). Allyn’s project, Sex: Celebrated, Contested yet Everywhere, includes photomontage portraits highlighting colleagues in pro-sex gigs. The 7×4’ portrait banners come alive when hung inside a host site, and hung outside on street lampposts at sitters’ events. Sex: Celebrated examines how sex ed, pro sex activities, and labor rights for sex workers influence one another. The project resonates with issues addressed by The Waitresses performance collaborative, cofounded by Allyn, including career options, a living wage, safe work environments, and body pleasurable service.Internationally exhibited, Allyn has been grant funded and commissioned for 30 years.
