Have an understanding of the basics of modular synthesizers, but want to go deeper? Curious to learn how to create complex textures, lush soundscapes, and metallic impacts? This intermediate workshop provides an opportunity for participants to expand their knowledge of modular synthesizers with a focus on sound design. We’ll take a look at both creating and capturing sounds and why modular synthesizers excel at these tasks.

NOTE: This is an intermediate level workshop, and participants must have an understanding of the basic parts of modular synthesizers and how to patch them. This can be in the form of hardware modular or semi-modular devices or software modular environments such as VCV rack. Basic concepts will not be covered as part of this workshop.

Feminist Synth Lab prioritizes all marginalized genders, including but not limited to trans women, cis women, trans men, non-binary, intersex, gender nonconforming, two-spirit and questioning folx. We ask that our cis male allies and friends respectfully do not sign up, as we recognize that electronic music is overwhelmingly dominated by cis men.
