In this beginner-friendly workshop, Feminist Synth Lab guides attendees through the basic elements that make up electronic music, from the fundamentals of synthesis to the essentials of working in a digital audio workstation (DAW). Organizers Sabrina, Val, and Naomi will discuss their individual approaches to making electronic music using both hardware and software. During the second half of the workshop, participants will get a chance to play and experiment with instruments from the synth library in breakout groups.
Additional Information:
This event prioritizes all marginalized genders, including but not limited to trans women, cis women, trans men, non-binary, intersex, gender nonconforming, two-spirit and questioning folx. We ask that our cis male allies and friends respectfully do not sign up, as we recognize that electronic music is overwhelmingly dominated by cis men.
