Feminist Center for Creative Work is seeking an inventive, skilled graphic designer to create digital assets and print materials for all things FCCW. This role is a part-time staff position that will work directly with Kamala Puligandla, one of FCCW’s Co-Directors, to brainstorm and execute campaign and branding concepts for all visuals related to programs, events, publications, and merch. This includes designs for our monthly email bulletin in FloDesk, flyer graphics for programs and partnerships for web and social, as well as posters, signage, printed program ephemera, and possibly books.
The ideal candidate is thoughtful, organized, experienced at collaboration, attentive to deadlines and detail, and open to exploring how FCCW can use design as a tool to effectively communicate, while still having fun and pushing the boundaries of design. We are especially impressed by graphic designers with a keen eye for typography, and who have experience designing book-length projects.
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who deeply resonates with FCCW’s core values and is excited to design from them, as well as to engage in evolving FCCW’s aesthetic style within them. We highly encourage BIPOC, queer, trans, and nonbinary people to apply!
Graphic Designer Responsibilities
- Working closely with Co-Directors to develop and create digital assets to use on social, email, web, and shop for all FCCW programming, including Artist in Residence projects, partnerships and collaborations, exhibitions, one-off programs, publications, membership, and fundraising.
- Design branding for collaborative projects that maintain visual cohesion of FCCW look, blended with partner looks and branding.
- Design branding for FCCW signage, merch items for sale/membership, info cards and stationary, as well as other physical, printed materials.
- Design fundraising materials, including decks, membership drive assets, and visual look for our annual benefit.
- Lead and execute design and production of CO–CO Press publications, from editions that come out of the Artist in Residence program to organizational handbooks and literary projects.
- Evolve the visual look and feel of FCCW, based on values and updated priorities from our strategic plan.
Ideal qualifications
- Experience incorporating design direction and feedback
- Fluent in Adobe — primarily Photoshop and InDesign
- Excited to make editable templates in Figma
- Experience with managing/communicating your own project timelines and workflow
- Experience designing for digital and risograph printing
- Range — you can build unique looks for something as concrete as carpentry and as abstract as queer rigor
- Great style — your designs are bold, your typography inspires, your colorways can be confrontational, you’re not afraid to get weird!
