Intro to Risograph Printing
Saturday, July 19, 1-3PM
Max Participants: 8
This beginner-friendly workshop is perfect for anyone with little to no experience in risograph printing. We’ll cover the basics — think of this as Riso 101 — and you’ll get familiar with the mechanics of the machine and the unique qualities of the risograph process.
We’ll kick things off with a collaborative zine-making game called “Telephone Comic”, where each participant will contribute to an 8-fold zine. By the end, everyone will have the chance to print their own zine, exchange copies with others, and take home a collection of the collaborative zines made during the workshop.
All materials will be provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own paper, pens, pencils, markers, ink, brushes, or collage materials if you’d like to personalize your work.
Advanced Risograph Printing
Sunday, July 20, 2–5PM
Max Participants: 6
This workshop is designed for people with prior risograph experience or those looking to dive deeper into the technical side of Riso printing. It’s ideal for artists, designers, and creatives who are comfortable using Adobe software (especially Photoshop) or Procreate.
We’ll start with a brief overview of the machine, focusing on best practices for handling, managing, and troubleshooting it. You’ll learn how to properly prepare a two-layer file for two-color printing using Photoshop. (Basic file prep skills will be covered, but familiarity with digital tools is recommended.)
If you already have an image in mind that you’d like to print, please bring it as a digital file. Each participant will get hands-on experience printing their own work and will leave with approximately 20 two-color prints in their chosen colors.
I will work with each of you individually to help you achieve successful prints.
All materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own paper, as well as laptops with Photoshop or iPads with Procreate if you’d like to work directly from your own devices.
