Somatic Approaches to Organizational Systems with Stella Ramos

This summer, we’re bringing you the “softer side” of professional development, straight from the experience of your favorite FCCW Staff. This month we’re learning somatic approaches to organizational systems for your creative work with Stella Ramos.

In this workshop, we will approach the integration of organization skills into your life or creative practice from a somatic perspective. Centering our nervous-system responses to common organizing tools such as lists, calendars, and budgets, we will reflect on the bodily responses we’ve developed (often rooted in hyper-productivity, capitalism, and scarcity), and explore alternatives and approaches that care for body and mind, while retaining the grounding effects of systems and processes.

Stella RamosStella Ramos (she/her) is a writer and creative from Seattle. She graduated from Occidental College in 2020 where she studied Religious Studies, with academic focuses on Indigenous Futurity and Subverting Settler-Colonialism. Stella is the Programming Manager and Administrative Assistant for the Feminist Center for Creative Work and additionally works with artists, creatives, and organizations as a Studio Manager and Creative Assistant.

Stella’s motivations in this role are to support the logistical frameworks, creative visions, and long-term goals of artists and creatives. With years of expertise in the structural support, mental flexibility, and abundant visioning it requires to maintain an artistic practice, Stella is intentional and grounded in her organizational and administrative skills. Joking that she’s a “Professional Virgo,” Stella is efficient, grounding, and generous in her work approach.
